and you chime, stars in Heaven align…

Here are a few tidbits of my life from the past week or so:

1) I’m currently reading this book, “Live It, Love It, Earn It” by Marianna Olszewski (which I would highly recommend for women who are like me…). Today on my lunch break I read Chapter 8: Take Action! Couldn’t be more appropriate for my life right now. In Take Action!, Marianna writes about how worrying about the possible negative results of a decision is worse than not acting.

The past is perfect. The future will be there when you arrive. The present is a gift. [Marianna Olszewski]

2) Last night I curled up on my couch with a PB&J, a glass of Mango wine from Olivery Winery and popped in my first French film with English subtitles: “Coco before Chanel”. Fabulous. Who knew THE Coco Chanel, the woman who symbolizes elegance and class, was an orphan who came from nothing? Coco Chanel worked her way from seamstress/saloon entertainer to Coco freakin’ Chanel!

Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door. [Coco Chanel]

3) I check out the stories on Yahoo! every day. One story on the home page tonight was “5 Mistakes Everyone Should Make”. Read it here. Once you read it, you’ll see a pattern emerge on how that fits with the other two tidbits listed above.

4) A few days ago I got a letter from my dear friend and neighbor, that effectively said something along the lines of: If the job isn’t working for you, what are you going to do? Think on that one…

5) Lastly, I have never shelved my lovelovelove of Coldplay, but I recently got re-hooked on them and have been listening to their LeftRightLeftRightLeft CD again. (Still trying to figure out how I managed to miss the “Lost+” remix with Jay-Z…) When I listen to certain CDs at different times in my life, different songs will pop out to me, different lyrics…almost like a particular song is saying “Hey you, listen to me, you’ll love what I have to say”. This time around with LeftRightLeftRightLeft, it’s “Glass of Water”. If you don’t know the song, look it up on iTunes (or do yourself a favor and take a weekend to absorb how great Coldplay is).

…Spend your whole life living in the past, going nowhere fast. [Coldplay]

So what does all this mean? I’m feeling inspired. I want to be like Coco Chanel (kind of…but really who wouldn’t?). I’m feeling ready to move. (And no, Dad, not literally “move”….I won’t be leaving Indy anytime soon.) I’m ready for things to happen.

Inertia. Dictionary dot com defines it as: inertness, esp. with regard to effort, motion, action, and the like; inactivity, sluggishness. In “Live It, Love It, Earn It” Marianna defines inertia as: fear of failure.

If I’m being honest, which I don’t like how this sounds so be gentle, inertia has been an almost-constant companion to me. We somehow have managed to become good friends. But like with many relationships I’ve had, sometimes you have to know when it’s time to part ways. And it’s time.

If you’re a friend on Facebook1 or Facebook2 or follow me on Twitter, then you may remember that I’ve been promising a debut of something that I just love. And if you remember that, you may then also remember that it’s been almost a month and nothing has debuted. (Thanks to my not-so-dear friend, Inertia.) Well, well, well….that stops now. Maybe not right now because homegirl has got to get to bed (stupid 5:30am wake up call!). But expect it up tomorrow! Seriously, I’ll be doing some serious business on my lunch break to make that happen….

But just in case you need a tease, here’s a sneak peek!

sneak peek!

xoxo

    Dad

You continue to inspire me, love. :)

I would never “ask” you to leave Indy, but if you decide to … well, you know, let me just say from experience, sometimes there’s nothing as inspiring as a change of scene. I am finding that true and am about to explode with excitement for when your mother is able to join me here.

Regardless of where you are, I am there for you.

    Emily,
All I can say is “It’s about time, girl!” You have so much potential just bursting to come out so let yourself explode! You really are an inspiration, just like dad says, so let go and let God take you to heights you haven’t even dreamed of!!! Still looking forward to that lunch :) Love you bunches!
